With snow and rain falling in the Foothills this morning and more on the way, it's time to seek alternate locations to recreate and give most trails a break. All-weather trails will continue to be good bets, as will some of our sandiest trails, however most will be muddy and using them will create trail damage. Please refrain from doing so.
Yesterday we had a conversation with two trail users who were heading up Ridgecrest Trail when it was way too muddy. When this was brought to their attention they said they "have a plan" and so felt they needed to continue regardless of conditions. This brings up two important rules of thumb for the winter:

Using trails when they are muddy is the leading cause of trail damage on the Ridge to Rivers system.
Hawkins Reserve Encompasses Important Wildlife Habitat
A new, fully accessible pedestrian-only trail that will connect with and parallel the current Grove Trail in Hulls Gulch Reserve. The approximately .4 mile section will turn the trail into a loop creating a longer trail experience for users.
